I want to thank you all for the patience and love which I received from you at every encounter in which you allowed me to serve you. This parish community though small embraced me with it's genuine concern for thy neighbor and love of this parish. I thank you all for allowing me to learn from you. I truly appreciate all your kind words, calls, and cards of well wishes. I thank Fr. Brian for giving me the opportunity to serve in this mission of service to God and thy neighbor. I ask that you pray for our youth, each other, all leaders of nations, and especially for all our priests that we may be strengthened to do God's will. May God's Peace overflow in your Spirit. ~Diana Medel

DETAILS: Date: June 18, Time: 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm, Cost: $50.00 VENUE: Shrine of St. Jude Thaddeus, 12701 Viers Mill Road, Rockville, MD 20853 Live from the DMV in Support of the World Youth Day The fundraising event will support the youth of local parishes from the Archdiocese of Washington that will attend the World Youth Day in Portugal with Pope Francis in August 2023. WYD is a fantastic event that gathers youth from around the world to meet with the Pope. The World Youth Day celebrations usually occur every three years in a different country. Hundreds of thousands of youth attend, and it is truly a global gathering where people of all races, languages, backgrounds, and cultures come together to celebrate their faith. The WYD is significant because it helps the youth realize they are not alone. Today Christians are immersed daily in an environment hostile to the faith, feeling isolated and often antagonized. To be part of a gathering where thousands of people their age celebrate the same faith assures them that the Church is alive and that God still speaks to the youth of the world with strength. From Cardinal Gregory: My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, As we embark on a new and hopeful year, first and foremost, I am filled with gratitude for your past support of the Church of Washington through the Annual Appeal. In 2022, we ordained ten new priests, supported twelve local crisis pregnancy centers, welcomed more than 800 new Catholics into the Church, educated more than 25,000 youth in our schools, and ministered to countless more families and individuals throughout our archdiocese. We could not accomplish this without your incredible generosity. In the difficult times we live, I know that charitable giving is not easy. In addition to tending to your own and many needs, the missions you care about also have increasing needs, including our Church. However, I assure you that in whatever you are able to give, God sees your hidden sacrifice and desires to reward you (Mt 6:4). Click to donate. Make sure to choose St. Mary Star of the Sea, Indian Head (405)
